This was not the perfect answer but it got us to the right area to make the change. The place to make these kinds of changes is in Control Panel Personalization options for the Taskbar.

hi, I installed Classic Start Menu on my wife´s HP14 laptop, win 8.1 running spanish and her date in the notification box disappeared. The time is there, but we cannot figure out how to make the date come back. Any ideas? Thanks.
