The hardware Windows button was only mandated with Windows 8, so earlier devices may not have it. And even though I do have three buttons on my convertible laptop that can be customized in control panel's tablet PC settings that I could assign to the Windows key, or Shift+Win, that's not working rig...

It would be great to have configurable start button actions for touch-based input such as "tap" and "long-tap", in addition to the current mouse click actions. I'm primarily using the start menu with keyboard/mouse/stylus, but on touchscreen devices it actually makes sense to be ...
