This is on purpose. I don't remember the exact reason, but it had something to do with tricking the Metro start screen to not show up when it otherwise would.
I know this is a few years later, but could you tell me what part of the code moves the start button 1 pixel to the left on Windows 8.1?

Actually, I have another question. How do you make it so that when you hover over the start button, it doesn't fade into the new image, but rather just instantly changes to it? I read something about it on the site but didn't really understand what to do. Here is the image I've made specific for mys...

I looked a little for file location, then gave up. I just made screenshots and removed the background with Gimp. Problem- when I use Classic shell, the windows image has dropped down and shifted to left by one pixel. I included the original screenshot 125 % size and other one with extra pixels. Tha...

Does anyone have one of these? I just need the unclicked button on a transparent background, the exact same as the top one in the image I've attached, but at 125%. Simply stretching the image makes it blurry, and doing print screen to capture the 125% image that way makes it really difficult to make...

That's unfortunate. Is there any way to make a custom start button follow the accent colour from the start screen then?

When running Classic Shell, but without replacing the start button, the start button on the taskbar is off by 1 pixel. I've noticed this problem for years, but didn't really mention it before because generally speaking, I would replace the start button anyway. But I'd like to know if it's possible t...

Thanks for the replies. I actually already have posted this question on the 7+ Taskbar Tweaker site, but haven't gotten a reply there yet. Can you tell me more about Start9?

Is this something that Classic Shell could do? I'd like to control the minimum pixel separation between minimised windows on the taskbar, as well as between the start button and the first minimised window. After googling, it seems there is a registry tweak to do the first thing, but it has never act...
