Another potential flaw in your "test" could be the version fo windows 7 you were running.

I tried running Firefox on Windows 7 with YouTube and the Start button replaced. Could not reproduce the issue. If you can narrow it down to some specific software you have installed which causes it or exact steps to reproduce it, the cause can be identified and fixed. Like I said, everything worke...
