SUCCESS - For anyone interested, the new Windows 8.1 beta FIXES this issue. You can set the DPI scaling to 150% or higher and the taskbar (windows native OR Classic Shell) no longer displays over full screen windows or video. You can download the patch for free from Microsoft

Uninstalled classic shell and problem remained. I figured out this is a well known problem when using the DPI Font Scaling in Win7/8. If you set it to 150% or higher, the taskbar will remain visible over full screen video and other applications. Turning the scaling down to 125% or lower fixes the pr...

I'm running 1360x768 on the attached TV. I've updated to the latest version of Classic Shell, problem still persists. It happens on any full screened browser video including YouTube, Netflix (which is Silverlight, not flash), Hulu, etc. The video snaps to full screen like it would on Windows 7, but ...

I have Classic Shell on my Win8 HTPC. I play a lot of flash videos from the internet in full screen. When in full screen, the full task bar is still visible over the video. I know I can set it to "auto hide", but this is less than ideal.
