Yes I eventually realized (by accident) long after the Windows Update my desktop PC had been set into "tablet mode". Once disabled, the Icons were restored. Hopefully this may save others wasting lots of time trying to figure out what went wrong.

I had a page of Icons which I used as shortcuts to my favorite programmes. The page has gone to be replaced by Windows 10 tiles how do I get my icons back?
