Thanks GauravK You were absolutely right. Tablet mode had somehow accidentally been turned on. Once I turned it off and reinstalled Classic Shell, everything worked as expected. Thanks for the prompt solution

I installed Classic Shell 4.2.4 on a PC that had 32bit windows 10 installed. It worked fine until I booted the machine up on 10th September 2015.
