Thank you, that actually steers me in the correct direction, ironically i didn't even notice that the explorer shell toolbar is also missing, so this must be something else...weird that it's like this on three computers, i'll just do a clean install and see what happens, thanks for the help. I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro, using Classic Explorer 4.2.1 the Show free space and file size in the status bar option doesn't work. Same results on three different computers, I believe this stopped working after a recent Windows Update? Not really sure. Thanks a lot.
